Alan and Kim Wilson's home is located in the historic Dilworth section of Charlotte, NC. When they decided on two bedrooms as a second floor addition, they took up an associate on his recommendation of Meridian DesignBuild, Ltd. -- and they weren't disappointed!
With a previous remodeling project using another company, the Wilson's experience had been less than favorable, so they initially approached Meridian with some trepidation. Communication, for instance, had been a problem -- a "sticking point", in Kim's words -- with that previous contractor -- but there was none of that difficulty with Meridian DesignBuild. Company president Joe Balich pledged to keep in touch with the Wilson's through every step of the work, and, affirms Kim, he "proved to be very, very true" to that commitment. The Meridian team was "very responsive" to every concern or question raised by the Wilsons. In fact, even before the expansion efforts actually began, Joe had an extensive "sit-down" with Alan and Kim, reviewing the details of the upcoming renovation.
Kim emphasizes they "chose Joe for a variety of [reasons]", including "experience with historic remodeling" -- particularly important considering the period demands of their residence."We wanted to keep the integrity of the house."
A "big value add" for the Wilsons was that Joe shepherded their project through the arduous approval process required by the Dilworth district council: he helped them fill out necessary paperwork and sat through hours of meetings to make their presentation before the group.
The Meridian workmen were "extra-respectful ... very considerate". "We never go stuck," notes Kim, "because somebody didn't show." The Wilson's schedule was somewhat tricky at the time, (Kim was "very pregnant" by project's end), yet the folks at Meridian DesignBuild were "real, real easy to work with."
Alan seconds everything avouched by his wife and adds, simply, they "enjoyed the process" and "would [recommend] and have [recommended]" Meridian to others. It turns out Meridian's promotional sign placed in the Wilson's yard during the renovation, coupled with a spirited thumbs up from Alan and Kim, convinced a neighboring family to call on Meridian for work they needed on their own house.
Moreover, Meridian is currently involved with the Wilsons in a pair of other projects; and the couple believes there is a strong possibility their relationship with the firm is not soon concluded: they envision tapping Meridian DesignBuild for future work. That response is something not uncommon with Merdian's satisfied customers.
